Inspector General Yoginder Dhaka, TM assumed charge as Commander, Coast Guard Region (East) on 06 February 2026. With over three decades of service, he has served the organisation in a wide spectrum of operational, command, and staff appointments, both afloat and ashore.

The Flag Officer has held several important staff appointments at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, including Principal Director (Intelligence & ASNC), Director (Plans), and Joint Director (Officers), wherein he contributed to intelligence oversight, strategic and perspective planning, force development, and officer’s cadre management. He has also served as Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (North East), overseeing operational planning, coordination and execution in the region.

In command appointments ashore, he served as Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters–6, exercising operational and administrative control over units under his command. On elevation to Flag Rank in November 2023, he was appointed as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Coast Guard Eastern Seaboard Visakhapatnam.

A specialist in Gunnery, the Flag Officer is an alumnus of the Naval War College, Goa. His sea commands include Offshore Patrol Vessels Sujay, Vajra, and Jijabai, during which he undertook sustained operational deployments and maritime law enforcement missions.

The Flag Officer is a recipient of the Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) awarded by the Hon’ble President of India and has also been conferred the Director General Coast Guard Commendation for his meritorious service.

He is married to Smt Jagdish Kaur and has two daughters, Simran and Simrat.
