Medical Emergency Onboard IFB Sidheshwari.

On 27 Jan 24, during routine surveillance, ICG Dornier CG 754 intercepted a VHF call from IFB Sidheshwari regarding medical emergency onboard in position 20 N miles South-West of Dwarka Lt. The patient (Mr. Makvana Manubhai Alabhai, Age-50 Yrs) had reported severe injury while handling fishing net ropes at sea. On receipt of information, ICG ALH CG 863 was tasked at 1405 h on 27 Jan 24 for MEDEVAC. ICG ALH evacuated the patient and landed at Okha at 1520 h on 27 Jan 24. Thereafter, the patient was handed over to boat owner’s relative for further medical management.

Medical Emergency Onboard Passenger Vessel Celebrity Millennium.

At 1916 h on 19 Feb 24, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Mumbai received an email from Passenger Vessel Celebrity Millennium (Flag - Malta) regarding medical emergency onboard in position 30 N miles North west of Aguada. The patient (Name-Mr Cruz Mendez Fernando, Nationality – Mexican, Age-53 Yrs) was suffering from suspected cardiac arrest and thus merited urgent medical evacuation. On receipt of information, ICG Ship C-158 was diverted to render assistance. ICG Ship arrived datum and embarked patient along with his wife and one medical attendant at 2150 h on 19 Feb 24. Thereafter, the ship entered Mormugao harbour at 2340 h and handed over the patient to local agent for further medical management at SMRC Hospital, Chicalim Goa. The condition of patient was reported to be stable.

Medical Emergency Onboard IFB Vijaya Laxmi (Reg. no. IND-MH-7-MM-2334).

At 1634 h on 28 Feb 24, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Mumbai received information from Maya Industry Corporation Mumbai regarding medical emergency onboard IFB Vijaya Laxmi in position 60 N miles North West of Mumbai. The patient (Name-Mr Bhikaji Keshav, Age- 60 Yrs) was suffering from severe pain view benign prostatic hypertrophy and thus merited urgent medical evacuation. On receipt of information, at 2005 h on 28 Feb 24, ICG Ship Samudra Prahari was diverted to render necessary medical assistance. ICG Ship effected R/V with IFB Vijaya Laxmi at 2250 h and embarked the patient at 2300 h on 28 Feb 24. Subsequently, ship’s medical officer provided necessary medical aid. Thereafter, the ICG Ship arrived off Mumbai at 0630 h on 29 Feb 24 and handed over the patient to IFB Tesai Mauli Kripa, arranged by owner for further medical management. The condition of patient was reported to be stable.

Medical Emergency Onboard MV Lila Lisbon (IMO-9252498).

At 2346 h on 15 Mar 24, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Chennai received information from ROS Visakhapatnam regarding medical emergency onboard MV Lila Lisbon (Flag-Liberia) in position 246 N miles South-East of Paradip. The Patient (Name-Mr. Dawe, Age-59 Yrs, Nationality-Indian) was suffering from Chest, Shoulder and Jaw pain, thus merited urgent medical evacuation. On receipt of information, ICG Ship C-425 was deployed to render assistance. ICG Ship arrived datum and evacuated the patient at 1832 h on 16 Mar 24 in position 10 N miles South-East of Paradip. Thereafter, the ship entered Paradip harbour and handed over the patient to local shipping agent, M/s JM Baxi for further medical management. The condition of the patient was reported to be stable.

Medical Evacuation from MT Onaiza (IMO 9397353).

At 0235 Hr on 25 Feb 26, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Mumbai received information from Master of the Vessel regarding medical emergency onboard MT Onaiza (Flag- Marshall Island) in position 193 N miles South-West of Kochi. The patient (Name - Mr. Ochea Rodihmar Andoy, Age - 45 Yrs) had suffered sudden full body shivering & chest pain and thus merited urgent medical evacuation. On receipt of information, MRCC Mumbai advised to Vessel to proceed Kochi and ICG Ship C-410 on routine patrol was diverted to render assistance. At 1430 Hr on 25 Feb 26, ICG ship arrived datum and evacuated the patient and provided first aid to the patient. Thereafter, ICG Ship entered ICG jetty, Kochi at 1615 Hr on 25 Feb 26. Upon arrival, the patient was shifted to Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi for further medical management.

Medical Evacuation from IFB Anji (Regd. No. IND-AN-SA-MM-1345).

At 1600 Hr on 05 Apr 26, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Chennai received a distress alert regarding medical emergency onboard IFB Anji at a position 335 N miles South-East of Chennai. The patient (Name- Sie Sone Same, Age- 38 Yrs) was experiencing severe chest pain accompanied by difficulty in breathing, necessitating urgent medical evacuation. On receipt of information, MRCC Chennai diverted MV Ashico Victoria (Flag- Panama), transiting in the vicinity, to render assistance. At 1900 Hr on 05 Apr 26, the vessel arrived at the datum, embarked the patient along with one attendant and proceeded towards Chennai. Subsequently, ICG Ship C-453 was deployed from Chennai to evacuate the patient from the vessel. At 2300 Hr on 06 Apr 26, ICG Ship C-453 evacuated the patient off Chennai and entered Chennai harbour. Upon arrival, the patient was handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries, Chennai for further medical management.

Medical Evacuation from Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Benny (Regd. No. IND-GA-01-MM-3767).

At 1000 Hr on 19 Apr 26, Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) Goa received information from fisheries control room, Goa regarding medical emergency onboard IFB Benny in position 110 N miles West of Revadanda Lt, Maharashtra. The patient (Name - Sunil Dung Dung, Age - 31 Yrs) was suffering from severe chest pain and had become unconsciousness, thus requiring urgent medical evacuation. On receipt of information. ICG Ship Achook on routine patrol was diverted to render assistance. At 2145 Hr on 19 Apr 26, ICG ship arrived at the datum and evacuated the patient along with two attendants and provided first aid. Thereafter, ICG ship entered Mormugao harbour at 0920 Hr on 20 Feb 26. Upon arrival, the patient was shifted to Govt. Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Goa for further medical management. The condition of the patient is reported to be stable.
