Saksharta - Lighting the lamp of knowledge
Literacy is the most basic currency of the knowledge economy. CGWWA has been waging a war against illiteracy. It aims for a hundred percent literacy level within the Coast Guard community. Towards this end, it conducts adult literacy classes, which target those wives from rural areas who have not had the opportunity of a formal education. Saksharta also conducts spoken English classes and basic computer classes. Workshops, visits and lectures on topics of general interest and awareness like computer literacy, money investment and savings schemes, etc., also come within the purview of the Saksharta scheme. CGWWA encourages and acknowledges children who perform exceptionally well in senior classes.

TeamSSB Familiarisation programme for ICG wards applying for Defence services was conducted at Sector 62 Noida on 08 Oct 24.
As part of Literacy activity, Saksharta team organized a lecture on ‘Food Adulteration’ on 7th Feb 25 highlighting its impact on health and ways to defect and prevent it. The session covered common adulterants in everyday food items, their harmful effects and simple techniques to identify them at home.
Team Saksharta organised a lecture for Mayabunder rural gram ladies on 15th Mar 25. Mr. Subroto Ghosh, Rural Development Officer, Mayabunder delivered lecture on literacy for personal growth, women’s rights and better parenting.
Saksharta team conducted a presentation cum lecture for children age group 11 yrs to 17 yrs on the topic “ Navigating Exam Stress’ highlighting the key issue of its cause and how to overcome the same” at 1030 hrs on 22nd Mar 25.
Literacy Committee was organised a lecture on “Digital Literacy” 27th Mar 25.
A drawing competition was organized on 21st Feb 25.
“Counseling of parents and students in grade VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards” by a career professional focusing on providing guidance in academic planning, career exploration, emotional well-being and effective decision making for bright future was organized on 26th Jan 25.
Team Saksharta organized a vibrant painting competition for children from Nursery to Class VIII, encouraging young minds to express their creativity.
The Saksharta team held a session on “Emotional Management and Work Life Balance “on 12th February 2025.

A lecture on molding minds of young children conducted by Mrs Ridhika Mehta on 1st Mar 25. The session focuses on most meaning full roles played by women as mother, care givers and mentors in shaping mind of young children.
financial awareness program was conducted on 4th Feb 25. The session conducted by Rear Admiral Rajesh Singh (Retd), Defence Banking Advisor (Navy and Coast Guard).


As a part of literacy drive, a quiz competition conducted on 17th Feb 25. The event witnessed active participation by school students from Okha and Mithapur.


A cultural evening conducted on 12 Mar 25 at CGDHQ-15. The Tatrakshikas actively supported the event which included dance performances, Skit, Karate and musical performances by the children.


Lecture on “Parenting and development in childhood” conducted by Mrs. Archana on 26th Jan 25.

Lecture on accounting and financial management by State Bank of India was organized for CGWWA members on 15th Feb 25.


The Literacy Committee of Tatrakshika Porbandar organized a lecture on 13th Feb 25 on holistic child development.


A painting competition was organized by CGWWA Pipavav on 27th Jan 25 for school children from class 8th and 9th of government high school Dungar.
Team Saksharta organized a lecture cum presentation as a family counseling session with a topic on “Building Strong Family Dynamics " for Ladies of Powai and Antop Hill on 3rd February 2025.
On 26thMar 25 as a part of literacy activity a lecture on topic “How body positivity in women influence self-understanding and impact on children’s emotions” conducted in CGWWA Welfare Centre at CGRA.
Tree Plantation held on 6th Feb 25 during visit of President Tatrakshika (W) Mrs. Anju Sharma at CGKG School.
On 14thFeb 25 as part of environmental activity “Green parenting” conducted in CGWWA Welfare Centre.
On 24thMar 25, the Srishti Wing organized a "Turtle Hatching" Observation activity along with the Forest department at Morjim Beach for students from classes 8 to 12. The children had the unique opportunity to witness the hatching process and learn about the importance of marine conservation and the delicate balance of coastal ecosystems.
The environment committee organized a “Tree Plantation Drive” on 2ndJan 25. The importance of greenery and need to plant more trees in today’s ever increasing industrial world cannot be overemphasized.
