Inspector General Neeraj Tiwari, TM assumed charge as the Commander, Coast Guard Region (A&N) at Port Blair on 22 Nov 2023.
Inspector General Neeraj Tiwari (0269-L) joined the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on 06 January 1991. The officer has excellent understanding of operational and administrative philosophies of Coast Guard and has held various important appointments both ashore and afloat which includes five commands of ships. Station Commander of ICGS Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu and District Commander of two strategically important states viz; COMDIS-1 at Porbandar, Gujarat and COMDIS-4 at Kochi, Kerala. The officer has attended the prestigious US Naval War College, New Port (Rhode Island), wherein he graduated with distinction.
The officer during his command of ships namely C-63, Rani Jindan, Meera Behn, Vijit and Samar, participated and successfully undertook many operations both on the Eastern and Western seaboards with vivacity and verve. For his professional acumen and exemplary performance, the officer was awarded Director General Indian Coast Guard commendation in the year 2005.
As COMDIS-4,the officer was instrumental in launching a large-scale SAR Operation for rescuing hundreds of stranded fishing boats and fishermen affected by cyclonic storm Ockhi in Nov/Dec 2017. His professional acumen, pro-active attitude and meticulous planning, ensured that the SAR units achieved maximum efficiency thereby saving 482 precious lives. As Principal Director (Recruitment), the officer has instituted a number measures to enhance the efficiency and transparency of recruitment process. In order to reduce human intervention, the applications of the Navik entry are being received online and sorted digitally. Prior to assuming the present appointment as Commander, Coast Guard Region (A&N), he was holding the office of Deputy Director General (Human Resource Development) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi and has spearheaded the growth of service through effective workforce planning and management in the service.
The Flag Officer is recipient of Tatrakshak Medal (Meritorious Service).
The Flag Officer is married to Mrs Yashika Tiwari and the couple has son Natansh Tiwari who is Automobile Design Engineer.
