Additional Director General Rakesh Pal, PTM, TM joined the Indian Coast Guard on 16 Jan 1989. The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, Goa. He is trained in Gunnery & Weapons System and holds the credit of being the flag bearer for the specialization.
 

During his unstinted association with the fine service for more than three decades, the Flag Officer has commanded both shore as well as afloat units. The vessels that acknowledge his signatures on the command insignia are Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) ICGS Samarth & Vijit, Fast Patrol Vessels (FPV) ICGS Sucheta Kriplani, ICGS Ahalyabai and IB C-03. As Commanding Officer (Desig) for Pollution Control Vessel ICGS Samudra Pavak, he spearheaded the PCV capabilities for the susceptible & shipping traffic laden Gujarat coast. Besides, he has held various prestigious staff assignments viz., Director (Infra & Works) and Principal Director (Administration) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi.The Flag Officer has also commanded 02 frontline Coast Guard Base in Gujarat i.e. Okha & Vadinar.
 

On elevation to the Flag rank as Inspector General, the officer has held the command of Coast Guard Region North West from Aug 16 to Jun 21 and subsequently as Deputy Director General (Policy & Plans) at Coast Guard Headquarters from Jun 2021 till Feb 2022. The Flag Officer promoted to the rank of Addl DG on 03 Feb 22 and assumed the duties as Additional Director General Coast Guard.
 

In recognition of his meritorious service, the Flag Officer was awarded with Tatrakshak Medal (TM) in the year 2013 and President Tatrakshak Medal (PTM) for distinguished service in the year 2018.
 

The Flag Officer is an ardent music lover and a patriot by choice. He is happily married to Mrs Dipa Pal and a proud father of two daughters, Snehal and Tarushi.
