Inspector General Iqbal Singh Chauhan, TM took over as the Commander Coast Guard Region (North East), Kolkata. Inspector General Iqbal Singh Chauhan is a 13th Course, Direct Entry Coast Guard officer. The officer is an alumnus of College of Defence Management, Secundrabad and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration Mussoorie. The flag officer holds a master degree in management science.
 

During his illustrious career of more than three decades Inspector General Chauhan, has commanded all class of Indian Coast Guard ships. The important shore appointments held by the flag officer include Deputy Director General, Bureau of Naviks, Mumbai, Coast Guard Commander for the state of West Bengal & Gujarat and officer in-charge Coast Guard work-up organization. He has also served as Staff Officer to the Director General Indian Coast Guard. The flag officer is a recipient of ‘Tatrashak Medal’.
 

The Flag officer is married to Mrs Amardeep and they have a Son Simarpal Singh.
