Visit of DG Shipping

Dr. Malini V Shankar, IAS, Director General of Shipping visited CGRHQ (W) on 24 Jan 17. During the visit DG Shipping discussed issues related to regarding positioning of emergency towing vessel, mansoon preparedness, Ships hugging Indian coasts-risks to fishing vessels, unauthorised crew embarkation/disembarkation and tackling of disasters.

As a part of CG Week celebration 2017, Drawing and painting competition was conducted at Mumbai and Kochi on 13 Jan 2017. The event was attended by students from various schools.

CGDHQ-2 conducted Community Interaction programme for the fishing community Belapur Navi Mumbai on 07 Jan 17. Fisher folks were advised to carry original (un laminated) bio-metric identity cards whilst proceeding to sea for enabling verification through bio-metric card readers and also briefed about the safety of life at sea, violation of IMBL, adherence of weather warning, fishing banned period etc. The fishermen were briefed  on the procedure for donning of life jackets, usages of SART, DAT, life saving appliances, toll free SAR No. 1554/1093 and enhancing safety awareness among the fishermen.
